3sfe and 5sfe internals swap?

What's the internal differance between the 3sfe and 5sfe? I heard the the 3s had a longer stroke but the 5s had a bigger bore with a shorter stroke. Is this true? If so can I take the crank and piston rods from the 3s and connect it to the pistons in the 5s and bolt it in the 5s? What about the 3sge? What kind of Frankinstine motor can I make for better power?

You could offset grind a 5S crank by about .080" or so and possibly get 2.3L displacement - but were talking hundreds of dollars to do this and you would most likely want to use 3SGTE rods. These rods are about .005" short center-to-center length than the 5S rods, which are 5.433" C-C length IIRC. 3SGTE rods are the same width on large and small ends so you're good there. Also if you go this route I don;t know if you would have block clearance issues at the bottom of the bores

Another option is to use BME rods and have Bill custom make a set of 5S rods. Personally for a stroker 5S application I would make the C-C length about 5.75" or so (you have some leeway here). Only thing is they are made from 7075 aluminum and a lot of people don't trust Al for connecting rod applications - but Bill says that he has built 5S rods on a 700WHP turbo 5SFE and the customer states no problems with the setup.

Depends on how bad you want the power - I am going for N/A power and this is a slow road, but well worth it in my opinion

read the faq there is a write up on how to the the ge head swap.

5s had the longer stroke i believe you used the 5s crank in the 3s to boost it to 2.1l. but if your looking to do a u-pull improvement read the faq on the head swap, look at the 5s-fte option (fair amount of power for much much much less work)

quick note no there is no better easy swap cam your going to find there are a few performance ones that were made for the mr2's and celicas which means your gonna have to find someone selling them (or regrind from webcams)

i think the light weight crank swaps just find along with the lighten flywheel

This will get you started if you want to stick to the 5SFE - but Chronoti is right there are much, much easier options out there. I tend to take the uncharted or unpopular approach but this is just me
