As mentioned people prefer different brands. So whatever works for you should be fine. I would stay away from Fram and STP however. Go with Purolator's PureOne (the taller PL14477 for the I4 and the taller PL20195 for the V6). I wouldn't mind Motorcraft FL400S for the V6 and the shorter FL910S for the I4.
That said, PureOne PL14476 and PL10241 are the standard sized filters, if you want to keep things close to spec.

While there is personal preference, and then there are the actual facts (i.e. opening up the filters) I would go with OEM filters. I really wish I had a picture of my valvetrain. It's cleaner than ANYTHING I've ever seen. That's my advice

Its really not a personal preference of mine. My dad used Fram since he bought the car and when I got the car, he had maybe 8 left, so I'm going through them since the car is running just fine. I am down to my last one and will buy something else when the time comes. BTW, my engine doesn't look too bad. It just has a little varnish with 5k OCI.
I would recommend OEM or PureOne after reading all the information.

You can use the V6 filter on both cars but I wouldn't use the I4 filter on the V6. Just be aware a larger filter canister takes a tad longer to fill up if the I4 drains out like many others. Otherwise Walmart's Motorcraft FL400S for the v6 and FL910S (like the Fram 3614 mentioned) for the I4 should be fine. And maybe use Motorcraft synthetic blend oil too.
The Motorcrafts are made by Purolators, which were bought by Bosch. So Bosch, Purolator and Motorcraft are made by the same company. Just don't use the Premium-Plus or PepBoys' Proline basic filters by Purolator.
