Death of my camry - Need help from members please!!
A heart felt goodbye and cautionary tale.
Hello fellow Camry owners and lovers. Like many of you esteemed members of this great forum I love my Camry. Like many of you, my Camry was a humble first car that was passed down from our parents. Starry eyed and anxious to drive we knew our cars were never meant to be sports cars or off road vehicles.
But we didn’t care; we drove and loved our cars as much as we can. How I remember many summer days spend fixing and washing my beloved Camry. So it saddens me greatly to say good bye to all the members of this forum, you folks have helped me through thick and thin, and I enjoyed helping fellow members with their issues as well.
So then, what happened to your car?
Well it starts off like this; I brought my car to get my radiator changed. Being a student, and for the most part, financially independent. I like to stretch my dollar as far as possible. This time I went too far. I took my car to a place called Autodom and bought a radiator for $100.00 and had them install it for only $60.00! It was too good to be true.
Indeed it was too good to be true.
The half baked mechanics did in fact change out my old radiator; however they neglected to do many important steps. Firstly, they didn’t even tighten down the lower hose and drain plug tight and didn’t check for leaks. All so they could call it a day and go for “lunch”
Secondly, their so called “mechanic” didn’t even bother to bleed the radiator. To my horror I found out about their short cuts only when coolant was spewing out while driving away. I realized not only their mistake, but my mistake when I got far enough that I couldn’t get back to them immediately to complain.
As a result, because the radiator was only half filled, my beloved Camry overheated and warped the head gasket. Now my oil looks like chocolate milkshake due to a massive amount of coolant leaking into the engine.
Alas, my Camry is dead. RIP “Ugly Betty”
So here is where we stand, my car is fixable, but given the age and cost of repairing the car, it is not economically feasible to so (I’m a student remember). So this means good bye for now toyotanation. You folks have helped me out time and time again and I thank you for everything.
However, I would like to ask one more favour. Help me prevent other car owners from suffering the same fate as me. Please go on Google and vote the rating of their shop down so others aren’t fooled into using their “services”. Please help protect other car owners like me.
Please help avenge my beloved Camry, and stop others from being defrauded.
They have 4 listings (against google rules), please give each a 1 star rating.
If link doesnt work try typing "autodom 80 toro road toronto ontario"
This is the so called “mechanic”. Observe the date on the ratings, I’ve used google ratings many times before and the reviews are NEVER that frequent. At best reviews are often weeks or months in-between each other, but never a day after eacother. Such activity is highly dishonest. Also look at the first review by “amin” Amin is the name on the contact email for this place, again very shameful.
Please help by lowering their false rating by giving a 1 star.
Thank you.
Jordan

Radiator? That's a DIY item in my opinion. Doesn't require much in the way of tools. Almost anyone who can post here SHOULD be able to do it on their own, unless it's a matter of man-hours. So sad to see another classic go to the junkyard.
The Following User Says Thank You to vincentfox For This Useful Post:
Just an FYI, it's always cheaper to DIY than pay even the shadiest of mechanics to fix something. Always. And as a student, you have more time than money.
being a student is the main reason i learned as much as i did about my camry...i was not about to waste money with as much time as i had. this was undergrad of course. still sorry for your loss. hope whatever you replace it with is better.
Actually Chris I did DIY the first time, the rad I got from them started leaking within 6 months and then thats when I took it to them to get it changed... big mistake
Learn from my mistake people. There is a reason good mechanics will charge you more. Its because they know what they are doing.
P.S. Please down rate the place for me to prevent more honest people from going through what I went throught. I appreciate it
try the link now. or type "autodom 80 toro road toronto"
Thank you for your help guys. Please lets prevent others from suffering the same fate as my car!

That is a possible option, however with litigation you will find that most legal proceedings can take up to several years to be resolved. In addition, legal fees and the frustration of dealing with on going court cases isn't worth the hassle for the value of this 18 year old (yet beloved) car.
Would it be right for justice? Yes absolutely.
Do I have the finances and the resourses such as time, money, effort?
Unfortunately I can say what with school, and work I do not. This is my only form of recourse that is reasonable for me to take unfortunately. Which is why I am asking for the help of our fellow members here.
Please TN help me get some justice (abiet internet justice) for my "Betty".
sorry for your loss, but man I would try suing them if you have time to file the case in small claims court ... what a scam ... those guys shouldn't be allowed to clean up the waste spills under cars... go back to them and yell loud. go there with someone else too so you have witness to whatever is being said.
take pictures of their messy work on car, it will serve as proofs.
