3rd Generation 5SFE and LPG

Hello. my 5sfe engine was completely repaired 10.000ml ago and now i want to convert it to LPG. im getting crappy 16mpg in city due to bad IAC valve (awful low idle), and bad oxygen sensor.

im currently using 10w30 engine oil. If i convert it to LPG do i have to add viscocity (20w50?) or use some LPG special engine oil?

Also, is that engine safe to convert to lpg? no valve problems or anything?
Thank you

Your engine should love running on LPG, with a proper conversion system. (which I'm sure you've considered). You will still have to fix the other tune-up stuff, but no special oil required. LPG will burn much cleaner in your engine and will probably extend oil life considerably. Depending on the size of your tank, it will shorten your fill-up range, and your milage will drop quite a bit because of the lower energy equivalent in lpg as well. If you plan on keeping the car for along time in milage, it will prob. still pay-off the conversion costs though. Depending on local by-laws you may not be able to park in underground, or enclosed parking facilities. Thats all I know.

Thank u so much for your answer. I was asking about the oil because i saw some lpg special engine oil in a store so i thought it was mandatory to protect valves from high temperatures inside the engine due to the lpg.

There were a few 5S Camrys sold with LPG conversions from the factory in the early 2000s. Of course, with the proper kit, research, and money it CAN be done.
