USA Weird Starting Problem

Howdy :o)
Today I went out to crank up my 1998 Camry and when I turned the key the first time all I got was the lights and a buzz. When I tried it a second time it cranked normally. This pattern was repeated all day long. I checked the battery connections and they are tight with no corrosion. Ignition switch? Anyone had this problem before?

USA Weird Starting Problem

Thanks for the reply :o)
The buzz is coming from the steering column. When the key is turned all the way to the start position it sounds normal except the starter doesn't energize and initiate the engine start. On the second try everything works and the engine cranks. I went out this morning and the same thing happened.

Sounds like you have a problem with a relay, but unfortunately those kinds of electrical issues aren't my strong suit. Hopefully another member will be able to chime in with some troubleshooting tips.

Well I certainly appreciate your response, it might take me a while but sooner or later I'll track it down. When I do I'll shoot you the results. Again many thanks for your consideration. :o)

No problem, wish I could have helped. If you do find an answer I'd be interested to know what it was, and hopefully someone will be able to chime in with an answer for you.
