Reverse Lights dilemma...

It started a couple months back randomly sometime after I changed out the harness for the tail lights and fixed the problem with those going out intermittently, but this was a separate issue. Now, I'm faced with a much more bearish problem that I absolutely cannot find a remedy for.

Before I get suggestions on fixing the wires in the loom, here is what I have done:
  • Checked fuses: behind footrest and in engine bay; both are fine
  • Checked wiring: checked the connectors for detached wires and checked all the way 6" before they reach a certain box mounted inside
  • Checked bulbs: bulbs are fine, no corrosion on the socket, no damaged filament.
I've sat and fiddled with the wires to see if by any chance they come on but no such luck. I'm debating whether or not I should pull out the multimeter to check if the bulbs are even getting any power.
Any ideas as to what/where else I can check?

Additionally, I have a 5sfe with an e153 swap and I think the neutral safety has been bypassed; I don't need to hold down the clutch to start the car. None of the gears display when I shift; always shows park lol

Thanks

That wasn't an issue before because everything worked. The reverse lights all of a sudden just took a shit. The switch was never hooked up to begin with and the reverse lights still came on.
When I had the swap done, the mechanic still wired it to work. Either his wiring came undone, wherever it may be, or some other component simply failed. I swapped the ECU's out and none of the wire looms have been undone, so his wiring may be in the engine bay.

I checked the 5sfe wiring harness and there isn't a plug that connects to the e153 back-up switch on top of the tranny. I also went back and checked the auto transmission I had sitting in my garage and found that it doesn't have this type of switch on the bell housing. Maybe the wiring/plug are located elsewhere???
