USA engine swap

i have a 1997 camry with a 2.2 liter and a spun bearing and a torched crank i found a 96 camry with a bad tranny it also has a 2.2 l are they interchangeable ? any help would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure you're safe with a 97 model
I think it was the +98 models where the pistons were 1mm larger. I'm not entirely sure if the valve reliefs were placed differently because the cylinder heads are also the same.
