Exclamation 93' Camry Dashlights/Tail lights (brake lights) out. Intermittently come on

Hey guys,

I got a problem... My Camry decided while I was on a huge road trip back to college a month or so ago the air bag light came on. I thought maybe the airbag had something wrong with it. Well one night while I was driving several weeks later my dash lights and tail lights went out and the airbag light turned off... I went and jiggled all the fuses since I thought they may have gotten lose due to vibration (I removed the balance shaft when I did a rebuild on my 5SFE) Then everything worked again! Airbag light went out and all my lights worked... Then came to drive my car the next day and airbag light was on but my dash lights and brake lights all worked. Then I had it intermittently go back and forth between the two symptons... Now the airback light never turns on and I have no dash lights or brake lights... Made driving home from work this evening difficult...

I've been searching on the forums unable to find clearly what I'm looking for. Does anyone have a diagram showing what fuses there are in a 93' Camry fuse box? In addition to that which fuses are the airbag fuse, and the dash lights/brake lights fuse. I think I recall reading that the dash lights and brake lights are on the same circuit... I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they did that. Any help would be immensely appreciated I have a really busy schedule, and not a lot of time to research and fix it myself, but I'd rather not go to the mechanic and waste an hours labor on a simple problem...

Thanks guys!

my advice would be to start with the easy stuff first check all ground wires in lighting circuit sounds like maybe one is loose or breaking off . i dont think its a fuse cause if it was a blown one you wouldnt have the intermittant situation .backfeeding in ground circuits can do very weird things just my 2cents worth good luck keep us unformed on your progress

I thought of that, but where would I find these ground wires? When I rebuilt my engine last summer there were tons of grounding wires on the wiring harness, and all I can say is I bet a few of those grounds aren't bolted to the same parts of the frame that they used to be, but definitely grounded to the frame.

Pull the trim off and check the dimmer switch by the steering wheel.

I don't think it's the rheostat there, when the dash lights were working I tested it for functionality, and it worked. I could always tear up the trim and use my ohmeter we'll see I'm gonna work on it tomorrow afternoon...
