coolant shooting out of all plugs

First time long time..

Buddies 96 camry 4cyl 99k

Noticed overheat. Almost immediately went back to normal. Took to chain shop to look over. Drove fine there little rough idle but drove. They call saying come quick never seen this before. We get there coolant all over the entire car 6 guys huddled. Turned car over to show coolant projectiling out of all plug holes. Im thinking leak in the tb taking coolant in through manifold. Oil was clean at the dipstick but way over full. Weird. Im thinking they are up to something but has anybody heard of this. Strange it drove fine in but now a world of issues. Not super concerned about their shady shop as much as this issue itself and fixing it. Thanks a lot for any help.

P.S. if you suspect coolant getting into engine via TB, then unplug the coolant bypass hoses from there and connect them together with a barbed joint and clamps. also plug their ports under TB/IAC and check again if coolant shoots out from cylinders.

Either way it sounds so far like a seriously blown Head Gasket.

Hey thanks guys, been busy, it was a blown head gasket. Since I didn't trust the mechanics much, And since my buddy doesn't know anything about cars, he told them to make it drivable like it was when he got it there, they said ok and shot his cylinders out with air compressor and he was on his way, white smoke the whole way home. 1/8 mile no biggy. (I would have pushed it if it was my car).

It actually was just a small blowout from the water jacket to #1. I had a shop clean and machine the head, and I slaved on his car for a weekend. Anyway everything Is back to normal except some brake issues I have mentioned in another post, so thanks again!
