Transmission Compatibility

hi!
As i don't know too much about my new car I have a silly question
Well i bought a used 1997 Camry LE from a friend of my girlfriends, got a great deal on it. Recently though the transmission blew and it looks like if I wanna still be able to get to work and college I gotta get another transmission. Nobody around here (anchorage alaska) seems to know what i need to know, not even the local Toyota dealership!
i found a great deal on a 98 Camry transmission for cheap and before I buy it and get it installed i was wondering IF A 98 CAMRY TRANSMISSION IS EVEN COMPATIBLE WITH A 97 CAMRY??????
if anyone knows off the top of their heads, and they're sure, let me know cuz i'm getting SO many "yes" and "no" and "it SHOULD be" and "probably"s that its driving me nuts
does anyone know? help a noob out. haha thanks guys.
