Black Friday Drama!
Hi All,
I have a 1994 Camry Vienta v6 and ran into a spot of trouble at about midnight Friday 13th if you can believe that!
For the past few weeks I have been noticing the engine jerky on accleration while warming up. It's kind of hard to explain but as your accelerating the revs jerk up and down again as it moves through 1st and second. It felt as if the engine was misfiring and it was especially worse when going up a hill and would almost stall. After it warmed up it was generally ok.
Anyway I had planned to take it to the shop next week for a checkout but last nite the car starting shaking violently when accelerating. Now when the car is idling on start it is shaking and sounds as if 2 cylinders arn't firing but it's hard to tell. Any ideas where to start to determine if it's plugs, injectors or something more sinister like loss of compression?
The engine has been burning more and more oil of late, not a huge amount but definitely noticeable. I knew an overhaul was eventually in order but would think id get another 20,000kms out of it at least.
As a side note would any of you recommend an overhaul as a DIY project?
Cheers guys.
