1993 Cmary Engine Replacement

I have a 1993 camry with the 3vz v6. I have a good deal on a 1mzfe engine out of a 1995. Was wondering if anyone new the troubles of interchanging these two?

I need a new engine =/

Just curious, but is there any particular reason you don't want to just buy the '95 as a whole car? Is the body on that car in bad shape of something?

The 95 is totaled. Guy lives not too far from my house, and said if i take it out he'll give it to me for $150. The only thing wrong is that the motor mount pushed the water inlet and cracked it but thats an easy replacement. Car had only 103K original miles.

The 3VZ engine is completely different than a 1MZ.

OBD I Vs ODB II
Ignition system has distributor/one coil/HT wires Vs igniter/coil-over-plug
Different O2 sensors

Just to name a few things that pop to mind. It would be such an enormous task, I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you've got a lot of time on your hands to learn all the pitfalls & work-arounds. You'll need to swap ECUs, wire harnesses, etc., etc..

If i purchase this engine, id be getting everything. The guy said i can have the motor complete with harness, fuse box, ecu, etc. id basically taking it out whole with out disconnecting the harness so ignition system and all wouldnt be a problem. Im sure i can buy the o2 off of him too. Would it still be a problem? Or fairly simple?

If your state has an emissions inspection program you may fail automatically since that engine was not the size/type that was EPA certified in that car.
