4th Generation 2000 Camry Transmission Vibrates in Forward Gears only?

Car was running fine, then all of a sudden, the transmission started acting up. This is what I've noticed....

Car seems to be idling a few hundred rmp's higher than usual. Normal is about 800....now it's around 1100 or more.

When I put car in reverse, it works normally, smooth backing....but when I put car in any of the Forward gears it starts shaking and vibrating.

Gonna drain the fluid and look at the filter while I wait on some of your responses.

what sensor? could a sensor be the cause of the higher idle AND shaking transmission?

Check for vacuum/air leaks. The car should idle around 650-700. And then check the engine mounts. And then the transmission.

what do you mean by "check the motor mounts"? I know where the top mount is, but what would I be looking for when checking out the lower mounts?

Look at the top "dog bone" mount and see if the rubber has cracked more than 1/8" at the edges. For the front mount see if has any fluid leaking. (The rear mount is hard to check. That's the nature of the main mounts unfortunately). Then with the hood up check the movement of the engine as you shift from N into D or R. How does the engine move? (Exercise necessary caution - parking brake, no one in front/behind the car, etc).

But the car shouldn't idle 800-1000 when warm. I'd check for false air entry. See if the spark plug tube nuts that hold down the valve cover are loose. They often become loose you can turn them with fingers.
