Flex Pipe repair not to flexible..

In Febuary I had a new flex pipe section welded in as per some of the threads here suggested - ah! it was all peace and quiet for awhile. Now with the arrival of warmer weather I'm getting a bang from the muffler into the body when starting a warmed-up engine and a general vibration from the exhaust when idling at, say, a stop sign.

After looking for a thread with a similiar problem, thought I'd ask here and see if anyone has any thoughts/observations.

My solution:buy a #$@%! heavy duty fwd to combat these sw pa.poor excuses for roads. lol

check your motor mounts- sounds like they're pretty much done for and it's allowing excessive movement of the motor, possibly causing your exhaust to move and hit the undercarriage

I had this problem as well. There's a bracket that mounts RIGHT behind the flex pipe, and without it, the exhaust vibrates like crazy against the oil pan/undercarriage.

Check that.

Thanks for the advice and i'll keep the results posted. The car starts ultra smooth in the mornings, has run great in the year I've owned it, and was serviced regualy by the previous pwners. I'm slightly doubting motor mounts there but need to have a good hard look as I am no fan of any type of exhaust system f-u's.

Yea, every bracket, hanger and odd sundry exhaust component is under there in fair to middlin’ shape. Except at the muffler, the hanger/area there looks beat the muffler is really konking up against the body.

I have saved $$$ from the advice on tn – but I don’t do exhaust work – though I guess I could if I had to…
