Re ACIS

My car is toyota camry 1993 V6 LE 3VZ-FE engine. How do I test the ACIS? Does it need for the car to be running or under loaded conditions? Or can it be tested at standstill(no load) by running the engine at more than 3,900 rpm and throttle at 60 deg or more? Also, if the ACIS is permanently activated(closed valve), will it give NO(nitrous oxide i guess) gas emissions and fail the NO emission test? Thanks...

if you really wanna test your ACIS, take off your stock air box leaving the AFM, and air tube connected. around 3850 rpms you should hear a very audible Vtecish change in the engine sound.
ACIS is engaged twice in my video here.

and whether or not the ACIS is working, from the time there is a load on the motor noX (oxides of nitrogen not nitrous oxide) is being produced. if you fail the emissions test depends on how well your car is running.

Thanks for your video. My concern is I want to see the ACIS activated by the ECM(engine control module) when I increase the engine to 3900 rpm without running the car in motion. Is this possible?

look at the little arm thingy from the actuator that activates the ACIS at the side of the plenum

see if it moves when u rev the car at idle. if it doesn't then i guess u'll have to listen for it when u drive

The input to ECM in order for the ACIS to be activated is only engine rpm(>= 3900rpm) and throttle opening(>60 degrees). That means ACIS can be tested without the car running?

Snugly put a zip tie on the actuator arm up against a surface. Go for a drive. If it moves from the original position, it works.
