Cruise control blinking

1997 Camry

When I engage CC the light comes on, and it initially holds set speed, then CC button begins to blink and it fails to hold. Any thoughts of where to look first?

I had some losers repair my transmission and since then CC is on the blink, some sort of bushing damage (sounds horrible when I drive ) and motor mounts seems jacked up (car now shakes, maybe trannie mount.)

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Like I said, the CC initially holds speed, but then begins to blink and then nothing.

Thanks in advance.

207k miles.

Well, it could be two things..

either the cruise control actuator, or the cruise control ECU. I would check the ECU before changing out the module, because it seems like the actuator is working if its Holding speed initially.

There are other things that are tied into the CC system as well, such as the Engine ECU, Shift solenoids, Brake Switch. But the whole concept of it is when you turn the CC Module on and Setting it, you are really just Holding the Throttle pedal in the position. The Computer is there to determine if the speed drops, to apply more throttle..
