tire size q

hey all, got a 97 camry with tire size 195/70/14...i've had 195/75/14 on the rear 2 for 2 yrs without any issues, even though they're bigger (got em free)...ive been scared to put them on the front because some1 warned me bigger tires shouldnt be on the front, now ive got 2 more of those for free and am wondering if they worked on the rear, why not front, any thoughts? thanx!!

It will work in the front, but your speedometer/odometer will be off and the handling will be sloppier.

it wont make much of a difference. i say run the free tires (as long as both of the front tires are the same size) and know that your speedo will be off by 3.1%, so when your speedo says 60mph, you will be going about 62.

With two different tire sizes, you have a possibility of ruining your ABS system, so if I were you I'd get those other two tires on stat.

That is very true. Late model vehicles with ABS, Traction Control, VSC, ESC, VDC, and AWD systems such as Subaru's required correct spec size tire on all four corners to function safely.

Having said that, ABS and TC wasn't standard on the 97 Camry. The only real problem with a taller tire is a slightly slower acceleration.
