4th Generation Exhaust pipe leak / loose connection acceleration noise

Hi all

hope someone can help shine some light on my problem.

2000 camry 4 cyclinder 5sfe with approx 75,000 miles.

i started to look for the cause of the exhaust leak due to loud acceleration noise and when i start the car i can feel the leak at that connection in the photo with the red circle below.

SO what are my options here:

Can i just have a local shop reweld the connection?

or do i need need new piping and connection?

this is my first post with photos so hopefully the insert link works if not please click on the following link for photos

You need to have the Flex pipe replaced.

Any muffler shop can do it, but they may try to up-sale you on the entire section from the manifold.

thanks!

Is the Bosal 265-705 a good/correct replacement since OEm will want the whole exhaust system replaced at $1,200.

I think I remember the one you need is 2" ID x 10 inches long. It runs about $30 at most auto parts stores. I helped a friend do this on his 2000 Camry 4 cylinder last summer. You have to cut off the old one leaving enough of the exhaust pipe on each side to use 2" muffler clamps to clamp the new flex pipe down over the existing exhaust pipe. We also had to fabricate our own bracket in the front to replace the one that will now no longer go over the OD of the new flex pipe. Not a hard thing to do. Do a search on this forum as we used a DIY thread on this forum for instructions. Sorry I can't find it right at the moment.

Thanks!

i bought the Bosal 265-707 with 2" diameter and took it to my mechanic. It cost about 1.5 hours of labor to weld it together and eveything sounds like normal again!
