Keyless entry rarely sounds

I have a 96 toyota camry LE. I've owned it for two years and it has only made a beeping noise twice in those two years when I used my keyless entry remote. I don't know what produces the beeping sound, but if I knew it would be a great help in diagnosing the problem that I'm having. I'm wondering if there's possibly a loose connection or something with whatever creates that beeping sound. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could enlighten me please and thank you!

3rd Generation

i also have a 96 le and wondered about my alarm mine was located right next to the steering colum zip tied to a yellow loom,it should be a black box about the size of a wallet just a little bit fatter,if yours is the same as mine there should be 4 little white sliding buttons in a little circle on one side of it dont touch those cause i did cause mine didnt come with the key fob and it like put the car into theft mode i couldnt start it so i had to unplug the box,its alot easier to get to it if you take off the plastic panel under the steering wheel, and could you tell me what kinda key fob you have like what numbers does it say on it or a company name cause i cant find anything for my alarm idk mine says fcc-jraphster or something like that on the box but yea thats pretty much all i know about these alarms on the 96 cause ive only have mine for 3 months but hope this helps

In all these cases, the remote keyless entry systems can be set to NOT sound. That is a programming deal that the owner can set up. Go to http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamo.../alarminfo.htm for more info. I believe this is the same system installed in the camry.

The Keyless Entry Steps to Activate and De-Activate the alarm system do not work for me for the piezo. When I push and hold both alarm buttons, the Security light never turns on (While key is in the "ON" Position). I dunno what my security systems deal is.

Is it the same for Gen4?

Mine sounds...but everytime I unlock it, it's a different pitch all the time. Sometimes really high pitch, sometimes really low, etc.

My key fob is a remocon that I got off of ebay. It's weird because it beeps at the most random times. I'm thinking that there's a loose connection somewhere because the two times that it's worked is when it's been really hot outside and my car is running hot. I can lock and unlock it as much as I want after it beeps once and it will continue to be able to beep until I start the car again and shut it off. I'll try to find something about the piezo buzzer to see if that might be the problem, but I know nothing of that so I'm just taking shots in the dark.

Sometimes, taking off the negative pole(the smaller post) from the battery may solve it...

its the piezo chirper that makes the sound. its located zip tied to the brake booster line. its typically a small red plastic thingie about 1" in diameter and 1.5" tall can wrapped in black foam.
