1992 Camry Manual climate control question

Hi all new poster to the forums.

I have a 92 Camry and today the climate control switch (the one that you rotate for cold to hot) has stopped rotating and is stuck on the hot position. You can rotate the knob but it is not smooth more of a clicking motion and it will not change the temperature of the air that is blowing out the vent. I haven't had any problems with this before. The knob itself is in good shape not stripped. Any suggestions on how I can get the problem resolved?

the knob actually pushes/pulls a cable that opens and closes a valve to let hot coolant to the heater core. you can see this valve if you follow the heater hoses, right where they go thru the firewall. see if the cable has worked its way off its post. you can move it manually for now until you have the time to take the climate panel off to check the cable on that end.
