3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I gotta tell you, I had never been big on Camrys, sure I knew they were reliable, last forever, and a well loved car( heck best selling car in America?) I always thought they were boring. Well, the boring is a plus, helps keep you out of the local constabulary's eye( that's what my Honda is for, haha).
Well, I had my first shift using the Camry tonight. Filled up with 35 bucks worth of fuel, and the gauge never moved off "F" in 50 miles of delivery tonight! The car accelerates beautifully( V6) Not a single noise(reverse in the VW sounded like death), and not once did it overheat( my old VW would have steam rising from the hood). Not once did the front end shake or shimmy( the old VW I had felt like it was disintegrating over 50 mph).
The A/C blew cold everytime and got cold within a minute of starting the car( not exaggerating)
The ride was smooth( kinda like a Cadillac), and when I had to take a corner, it obliged, it feels a lot bigger than my Civic, which is not a bad thing.
Anyways, as much as I love my Civic( I will not be getting rid of it anytime soon), my Camry has impressed me greatly, and I have a feeling it will continue to do so...

Love my Camry. Have a 1984 Toyota P/U with the 22r and it has been very realiable until this past winter I hit a slick spot and put it into a concrete medium. Hence that is why I bought my Camry. 1998 with only 80,000 miles on it and is well maintianed. I expect to get another 200,000 miles out of it.
I absolutely love the V6 in my 93. It's nothing to write home about and I'm not going to win any races with the thing, but it has enough pep to make it fun to drive. Glad you're enjoying it! Is it the 3VZ or the 1MZ?
I have owned 3 camrys, 93LE drove for 137000 miles, 96LE drove for 156000 miles and i am still driving a 2001 LE and the odometer just turned 172000 miles and still going strong. Cant say enough good things about them. Best cars made in my opinion.
Welcome to Camry World! It's kind of silly, but not without precident. A few old cars, that seemed boring, but were good reliable daily drivers, ended up being some of the best stuff made. Lots of good engineering in Camry's, thanks to the Lexus connection, and a fair bit of fun stuff you can do to them, without messing them up.
