quick question on my camry 93

I just got my timing belt changed, and i noticed upon inspection that the timing belt plastic cover peice isnt put on all the way...the bolt on the backside isnt put on and the cover isnt properly secure. I was curious on how much of a factor this has on my car? is it important?

I have a link right here to my Photobucket where i posted two pictures to better clarify what i'm talking bout.

If anybody could give me any EDUCATED knowledge on this i'd appreciate it.

IMO, that's a lousy shop.

See if they still have the bolt on the floor somewhere. They should properly reinstall the timing cover. The cover is needed to keep dirt and other particles from getting in and lodging between the belt and the sprocket teeth. This will cause accelerated wear and depending on the particle size cause belt breakage.

If they can't find it just pick one up at the dealer and do it yourself and be done with it. However I do have doubts about how well they installed the belt and such.

Yeah I bet they lost the bolt.... Just replace it and you will be fine. If it stays closed and dust and grime dosnt get in you wont have any problems
