USA 1998 Camry Resonator troubles

I'm new to all this. I got a Toyota from a family member and its had a couple of issues that needed fixing. New shocks/wheels/VSV/EGR valves. But now I'm low on cash and need help on this resonator issue. A pictures is worth more than I know how to describe the issue. What i do know is that the car is loud, very loud. Is there anyway i can patch this? maybe for less than $20

Thats not the resonator. Its the flex pipe.

Cheapest and only fix is to cut out and weld in a new flex section. I paid 80$ to have this done at a shop. If you can weld its 20$ in parts.

Replacing that whole section of pipe is close to 200$ so its just more economical to just weld in a new flex.

Yeah, that's a flex pipe, the resonator is a bit further back. Exhaust gases go through here, so this thing gets HOT.

When mine needed replacing (a plastic bag got stock to it, and every time my car would warm up it smelled like, well, burnt plastic), the exhaust shop cut out the old, and welded in the new SECTION of the pipe with the flex pipe part. Don't remember how much it cost, but that's the only way to fix this as far as I know.

Its right around $80.00 at most shops to weld a pipe in place..

Thats about all you can do though.

You can pick up the Flex pipe from Carquest. I know that they carry it. I'm sure other parts stores carry it as well.

If you have a welder available and a Cut-off wheel, I would just DIY .. it will take about 30 minutes to do the job.

K, right now I'm trying to find the average cost of a Flex Pipe so I can DIY it.

your looking for a 6 inch flex with a 10 inch overall and 2"ID piping. the 6" Flex really isnt important.. Its the 2x10 that matters. the flex can be however long you want it to be.

Should be fairly common
