Is that why my speedo reads in km and not miles? This only affects the mileage though, it doesn't affect the accuracy of the odometer. Any DIY fixes to having the odometer read at miles again? It helps not having to convert from km to miles every time I'm checking mpg. And also it helps with keeping the mileage on the car what it actually is.
Yeah a couple of us have this problem. I've been looking everywhere for a switch of sorts but never found one. Guess it was electronically controlled after all.. so basically a MPH gauge has an extra resistor.. and I'm guessing many of ours failed. Which is why no one ever had a KMH gauge fail and become MPH whereas we've had plenty the other way around.
i wount say sticky yet tho i haven't removed the resistor yet and tested it, once this gets tested then yes, my mile one is reading in miles right now but i'm in canada and i saw a km one in the junk yard so i nabed it and compared the 2. and in a day or 3 i should have the mile face uploaded too.

^ and leaving it that way!
Hopefully this is the case.. we'll see, please keep us updated I definitely have to fix mine as it makes it annoying to calculate every time. Not that I'm trying to sell the car lol so I don't mind that the mileage reads higher.
Thanks Chronoti...damn good work there friend! Once I rip the dash apart to replace the woodgrain trim and I'm going to look for that to see if it's burnt/broken then decide whether I should fix it or use the junkyard replacement I bought.
Any way to get that circuit board off so you can get a pic of the chip on the other side? Curious if it's a standard counter of some sort, or some custom job.
