I few years ago I installed a neon license plate frame on the front plate. I want to connect the electrical wires to my parking lamps so that when they are on, the front plate illuminates. This neon frame is covered with a black plastic border in the front, but only shines outside and inside the frame sideways, giving a purple glow effect. Would it be legal to have this on, because I could only find information about it not being legal if you have blue or red shining only on your rear license plate?

To find out if it is legal or not I would make a phone call to the State Troopers office your in your state. The license bureau might be able to tell you as well, if you have license bureaus.
