USA 1998 to 1995 tansmission swap possible?

My 1995 Camry's transmission is on its way out. I have a question:

Can you swap a 1995 transmission with a 1998's? My mechanic may have one.

Thanks

If you have the 4 cylinder engine...YES...from 1992-2001 they are interchangeable, with no modifications needed. However make sure the big silver plug (not sure of the name) that plugs into the tranny will accept your wiring harness plug. This is the only thing that may need change...if so, simply take the one off your old one and put it on the 98. I have only done this once however and usually you won't run into this, but they are still switchable.
