I was at the junkyard the other day and I found a car that was just like mine, a 96 v6 xle. Almost the same color too, but definitely NOT the same exact color. It was weird. When I got in it only showed 85.6k on the clock! Amazing. The door panels and seats looked perfect. Almost too good....then I noticed that the passenger seat was...POWERED! From what I know this was never an option on the gen 3.5. Now stranger yet, these seats weren't quite like mine. The material was softer (and obviously looked better due to having 50k less miles). I'm starting to think this car was some sort of custom job (had an aftermarket sunroof and aftermarket tint).
I really think this car had REAL leather, even in the back. I know our cars don't use real leather and even most affordable cars don't use real leather in the back.
The car had no battery powering it so I couldn't move the front seats enough to remove them (yet) but I swiped the back seat and put it in my car.
I wish I had a good picture of my old backseat but here's an old pic that shows my front seats to at least get an idea of what the back ones are like. You can tell that my old backseats didn't have the fabric bunched together like my new backseat does. I always liked this look so I'm glad I got this.
Now here is my new backseat
I'd swear the shape of my new armrest is a bit different than what's normal for our cars and the stitching seems very different too.
Any thoughts on whats up with this interior? Is it possibly reupholstered?
