4th Generation I'm thinking about getting tints.

The best price I've found right now is $195 for Llumar with lifetime warranty.

NY state allows 70% front and rear windows (anything in back) but I'm thinking about going around 35% all around except windshield.

Anyone got 35% on their GEN4 Camry? I'd like to see how it looks. Even 20% too.

My Camry is black...if it makes a difference. I just want something that isn't too dark to attract attention and something too light that it looks bad.

Thanks in advance!

I did 35% and didn't like it much, then switched to 20% and around my neighborhood was too dark so I ripped it off and now have nothing. I would go for 35% for a subtle, not too crazy tint.

I'm thinking 20% is way too dark, but it might work for just the back windshield.

Crash, you got any pictures with the 35% on? Or anyone for that matter?

Still deciding if I'll go through with it or not lol.

I don't have a gen 4 but...

My gen 3.5 has 20% and it looks AWESOME...but it's kinda sketchy driving in the city, I'll usually roll my front windows down at night just in case there's someone in a crosswalk im turning into that I can't see. And backing up in dark places is also a challenge if you're looking through your rear windshield (at night).

My 540i has 35% and I think it's just fine. It's dark enough but I've never had even a slight issue with it unlike the camry.

That seems like I just made your decision really easy but I wouldn't change a damn thing about either of the cars. The camry is old and needs to look gangster haha. The 540i is a newer car so I think dark tints make it look tacky. If that makes sense....aka do hood rat things to a hood rat car

I have 5% in the back and 25% in the front. That's the Texas limit. In Denver it's a bit higher for the back but I think that's stupid. They expect me to scrap off my defroster and get lighter tints. Hell no. If it were up to me I'd do 1% all around...do the Micheal Knight Knight rider look LOL

I say get the tints. It'll block out so much sun and keep the car cooler. And look cooler. I also don't think it'll attract that much attention. It's a Camry not a Cadillac LOL.

However, I was getting pulled over ALOT last year. But that's because my car has tinted windows and was wrecked, but I got it fixed.

When I was in Florida...You could have the front and back limo tinted but I opted out because it can get dark. Before I got used to the darkness of my tints, I backed into a pole 1 time and into a car another time LOL.

Eventually you get used to the length of your car and the darkness of the glass and I can parallel park at night without even rolling down the windows.

Hmmm, I disagree. Tints make any car look good. I never seen it as being 'gangsta'. It's efficient, privacy and makes it look sleak. With tinted windows, I could get my car to freezing with the A/C turned half way between hot and cold. In places where the sun beams down at 100 degrees from March to September having tints is a MUST. When I see people driving by and you can see everyone in the car THAT'S tacky LOL. I think cars should be tinted standard. As in...engraved in the glass so it never fades or bubbles.

Thanks for everyone's input and pictures!

As Iovaykind says, I'm going to not do the front. I talked to a buddy of mine who's a cop around LI and he says stay clear of fronts, cops won't bust you for just read/back windshield.

I'm going to probably go with 35% rear, 20% back. Just hoping it doesn't stand out too much and look tacky .

I'll either do it this weekend or when I get back from vacation .

Is scratching a big problem with tints? Or is it usually minor?

The shop I know only covers bubbling/fading...not scratches. I don't think a lot of places do lol.

I gave the shop a call, got a quote for $125 Llumar brand tint...but only does 35% and 15%. So I'm thinking 15% might be too dark for the back window :/

Well I did say "I think...." for a reason. Different people have different opinions. And I prefer to not to listen to opinions about what is or is not tacky from someone who spray painted his hubcaps black.
