heat/ac control bulb replacement?

I had the dash apart today to replace my speedo that caught the km virus in the odometer. While I had it taken apart I took the four screws out of the heat/ac controls thinking I could use some of the LED bulbs from my specimen instrument cluster to light the controls back up again. Even after removing the screws I couldn't pull the ac control group free of the dash and couldn't find a way to free it up in the time I had. I'd really like to replace the bulbs as my heat/ac control knobs are totally blacked out at night. The only illumination is the recirc selector lever and the AC push button switch. Whats the trick to getting access to the burnt out bulbs?

Thanks,

-BunnMan

3rd Generation Removing the Climate Control Unit

Hi BunnMan. I know you posted this 6 months ago, but I just did this the other day. The trick is that you don't have to remove the Climate Control Unit to change the bulbs. You just have to remove the screws on the left and right and pull the unit out as far as it will go . . . which is not far.
You then have to remove the chrome colored screw from behind the left most dial. Then you only have to remove the face plate of the unit. It's a little tricky, but it will eventually separate from the unit. Now you will see the two bulbs that need to be replaced.
