150,000 Mile Check-Up

I have a 1996 Toyota Camry and it is about to hit 150,000 miles. I am wanting to take it in to have some maintenance done to make sure that it will stay strong.

Since I bought the car, I have bought new tires, new brakes, new rotors, a new starter has been installed, new timing belt, new alternator belt, new battery, and a few other minor things. I am always on top of my oil changes, but I was wanting to hear some opinions on what other kind of maintenance that should be done around the 150,000 mile point to ensure that the car will stay in good shape.

Thank you! Is that the only thing that you would recommend? Should I change any kind of filters, like a gas filter or anything? Or have anything else flushed?

There's really no maintenance schedule for these, but putting in new brake fluid and power steering fluid helps. You don't have to pay to do these if you don't want, there's some DIY stickes on here for those.

Double check your filters, do the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in awhile. Do a general inspection under the car, check for things like leaking/bas struts, a leaking CV boot, bad ball joints, etc. This is about the time where things like that start to go, but it doesn't mean you have to change them all immediately, you can hold off for a bit, and some projects like that are pretty straightforward DIY as well.

Also, what about spark plugs?

I will make a note of all of your recommendations and take them to a family friend who is the one that takes care of my car. I am able to do most of the basic things myself, but I am not a huge car person and am not familiar with everything under the hood. I really appreciate the help!!

Also, I have posted another thread on here recently about how I have an oil leak. You could read that and maybe give me your opinion on this current problem.

Make sure you have differential fluid in your differential which is behind the transmission. Drain and fill transmission (not necessary to drop the pan, but you can if you want). Flush transmission. Read DIY for all fluid changes.
