wheel question

hello everyone, I am new to posting in this forum, although I have been browsing around and picking up a lot of tips!

I have a question regarding my 95 camry

Recently I was hearing a pulsating sound from the driverside rear wheel and took it into the shop where I had my brakes done (6 months ago) and it turns out the e-brake was sticking and snapped springs which trashed the rotor (according to the mechanic) so two new rotors and pads later, the car is good to go. However while I was there, the guy told me that I should look into new wheels because "the current wheel hub holes are oval shaped". He advised me to switch them immediately do avoid possibly losing a wheel. i took this with a grain of salt, because these american racing rims were installed in 96 and have had no problems so far.

So the question is, do these comments make sense? Am I really in danger of driving the car with these rims? The guy seemed to think aftermarket rims like these are bad because they are so generic and do not fit as well as factory ones.

I know its tough to tell without seeing the wheels, so I can post up pictures in a day or so.

thanks in advance!

lurker i see

post some picks but i call some bs on that

pulsing on the brake would be from a warn rotor not a sticking e-brake especially if you had to replace pads and not shoes

The lug holes can be egged out. Especially if the lugs were ever loose. But I'm guessing, like most people you make sure they are tight

Sorry I forgot to mention, the e-brake shoes and hardware/springs were replaced as well. Since the springs snapped due to the brake sticking it destroyed the rear brakes. This is why pads and rotors were needed. The strange thing is, I don't ever use the E-brake. I have given my car to my parents to drive while I detailed their cars but I doubt they used it either.

What really surprised me was the comment about the lug nut holes being oval or egg shaped. I have always done routine maintenance, and snug up my wheels 20 miles or so after
a tire rotation.
