But to answer OP,

low on oil = bad bad bad. Probably not worth the rebuild as the rods and pistons will likely have gotten very hot and are very brittle. Also oil pump is probably fried.

Anyway, it's an easy job (in my opinion) that you could probably do within a few hours. Unless you've never changed spark plugs.

Just gotta pull the downpipe off the header and move it, pull the oil pan and pull the end caps off. Should be able to slide the bearings out from the bottom with a screwdriver or pick set, then replace and lube. Hopefully your crankshaft isn't fucked.

The crankshaft probably is fucked

if it is, your going to have to separate the motor from the transmission to completely remove the crankshaft. And even then, you should have the block inspected for cracks at a machine shop. its easier to just buy a used motor and swap it in....
