URGENT HELP needed, windscreen wiper stopped working

My recently (5 days ago) bought 96er gen3 is producing the following:

Windscreen wipers move very, very slowly. It actually stop too. I"ve just took it apart, but not to an extent of 100%. It can be the motor itself or the joints/balls where it turns and? I cannot see the mechanicals at where the arms stem from, yet. Anyone experienced this, which is the most obvious point of failure? I didn't pull off the motor yet. There's only one bolt to it?
Thanks for any response!

steve

ya mine was doing this too when i bought it...

probably the joints/links/pivots starting to seize up... the motor is really built though and is really hard to damage...

you'll need to remove the plastic splash guard under the wipers studs and you can see the mechanism by some big holes in the frame... put a flashlight in ans spray penetrant fluid onto the pivots/joints and everywhere there is motion... this should most likely fix you problem but you'll need to apply some sort of lubricant after as penetrant oil washes out all lubricants... add something like white grease

Thanks very much!

I had been doing it until midnight. WD40 was sprayed all over the joints, next step will be the same with grease spray, I have one. Car hasn't been run for half a year or so. That was the result, I guess. It started to move slowly, then after a while it got better and better, I have run it for about 10 minutes on high speed as well. This morning it worked well in the rain. Let's see it in the afternoon.

Hi All,

We took the whole thing apart a week ago, and ane of the shafts was completely stuck. It's been sitting in gas (and some oil) for a week now. My friend and garage said it's the same now. Any ideas? Heating? Cooling? If the house of the shaft is being hit, it starts to break apart so we cannot do that. I would love to hear some good advice.

All the best!

steve

penetrant oil and heat it up while trying to move it its going to free up at a certain point... then try to get as much grease as possible in there...
