Engine Light On

My 2000 Camry's engine lights came on as I was driving and it stopped. I took it back to the place I had its oil changed when I found the oil cap open and 'sitting' right on top of the engine. When I took it back to that shop, they told me that the engine oil cap might have popped out by itself but they agreed to de-cease the engine for free, replace all oil & spark plugs. The car restarted but has been making a funny sound (like a track). Now the engine light is back on. What to do?

First, pop the hood and check for any disconnected hoses (especially big ones, like the one from the air filter to the throttle body). And make sure the oil cap is still in place

Second, pop down to one of the chain auto parts stores and have them read the codes (Pxxxx) for you -- that should narrow down what the oil guys screwed up.

As I might say when my dog poops in the living room: oh-oh..
Oil caps don't pop of by themselves, unless they haven't been put back on or put back on right. Start documenting, write down and record everything about this. Track sound is bad!

Get ready for legal action.

I thought the explanation about it popping up was suspicious too.
