3rd Generation 96 toyota camry engine wiring harness

I have a 96 toyota camry and the wiring harness to the alt and a/c comp is burned up. the wires go to the back left side of the engine and 2 different wire bundles go into a black plastic holder. I need to find out how to remove the entire wiring harness so I can find out just how much damage has been done, and about how much time I will be looking at to fix the problem.

Thanks for any help in advance.

its much easier to remove the entire dashboard to get to the harness, but its possible to remove the harness without doing that but its a tight fit.

If I were you, i would just get a used engine harness and install it. Your going to spend a ton of time trying to find / trace every wire.

How do I remove the harness from the back side of the engine? does it have to be raised, or do I need to take off the manifold?

You have to remove the egr tube to be able to slide the harness past the
Throttle body. Disconnect both throttle cables and fully open the throttle as well. There are a couple clips holding the harness to the intake as well. You don't need to remove the motor to get it off though. You will need to jack the front end up though to disconnect the vsv and knock sensor wiring though.

it has nothing to do with the dash.... except under the glove box.

start by removing the plate that covers the entrance to the firewall... then get the glove box off and start unplugging stuff there... then get that through the firewall... then start unplugging stuff as you go... all the way to the fuse box. its easiest to take the fuse box with the wire harness instead of trying to get all the wires out from the fuse box.
