it depends...what are you swapping in? because there are only a couple of electronic bits- one being the speed sensor and one being the reverse light

the speed sensor plugs right in, but the harness for the reverse sensor is different

Get a 5 speed ECU and wiring harness and you won't have this problem.

I think there is more wiring on a 97 because of the OBD 2 system. Also, I believe on the V6 it is necessary to swap the engine/underdash harness and ECU.

It had It has been my experience that modifying a car and not spending money are mutually exclusive. You'll have to modify the harness for the reverse switch. However, I'm not sure how the OBD 2 ECU will react when it goes looking for an automatic that is no longer there.

you only have 1 speed sensor on the manual the one that fits is the one you need the other is for the orbital gear

the reverse light you need to hack the gear selector switch and splice it to the reverse connector

the you need to jump close your neutral safety switch

at this point you should have about 4 cels

the reverse connector female end can be ordered threw toyota(about $30). if they say if doesnt exist, go to someone else.

The colors are different from car to car. Sorry, that is how it is. My colors didnt match the instructions.

The Park/Neutral wires are correct.

With Wiring the reverse connector do not worry to much about which one is which. if you are not planning to use the park neutral switch, open it. when you open it you will see that that thing only completes a circuit. IN OTHER WORDS, all you need to do is close the circuit. To do this you need to put it into reverse. Can go either way.
