Tires for 2001 Camry

Greetings to everyone -

I'm new here - purchased my 2001 Camry LE about 3 weeks ago and need to replace the tires, so I'm looking for ideas and suggestions.

Most important to me are quiet tires that handle well on wet pavement (I live in Seattle: 'nuff said).

Been looking at Tire Rack and what appears appropriate to my inexperienced eye are Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring tires.

Could anyone comment on those or offer any other suggestions, ideas, caveats, etc.?

Thanks much!!

After researching, I bought a set of General Altimax HP's from the Tire Rack. They are one of the best and cheapest tires on the market. To my way of thinking: tires wear down relatively quickly on the front and I've seen more expensive brands wear just as quickly as inexpensive ones - so at $75 per tire you can't go wrong. These General's are similar to the Goodyear Tripletread's that were on the car when I got it and I wasn't too fond of them. Noisy, dangerous in the snow, and too 'floaty' - even when new they look almost like a racing slick. Couldn't wait to be rid of them. The General's are similar e.g. a 'directional' tire - but much quieter and stabler. And nearly half the cost of the Goodyears.

Check out the price at the Tire Rack for your size wheels and I think you'll like them.

Can't go wrong with a Michelin. I have the Hydro edge my self, don't know if I will go directional again though.
I have had a couple of sets of Firestone Indy 500 tires. They have a shorter life but they are cheaper and the best handling tire I have used. Very quite, smooth and great in the rain, even better in the snow. They were as good in snow as some snow tires IMHO. You might have to tweak the size a little to get one for that car I don't know. I have bought several sets of tires from Tirerack, if you wait awhile you may catch a sale. I got Michelin's and Indy 500's on sale there

I bought several tires for my 2000 Camry LE.

This is my experience -

Toyo Tourevo - You can buy these at any Les Schwab - These tires were a bit pricey, but are one of the quieter tires I've had on the car. Grip is good and treadwear seems good so far.

Falken ZE-512 - These tires are cheap, handled really well, but really noisy on this car. Treadwear wasn't bad.

On my other cars, I've had pretty good experience with Michelin tires in general.

General Altimax HP - I rented a Prius and it had these tires. I drove it for about a 1000 miles. I thought the tires were pretty quiet and handled well.
