92 camry, with no spark? help please :(

Hi all, I have a 1992 Toyota Camry V4 with a 2.2L engine.
About a week ago or so i went out to leave and the car wouldnt start, would turn over but had no spark. Checked all the fuses, under the hood and also inside the car, all were good. Changed the dist. cap and rotor.Still no spark. Changed the Ignition coil and tried to start it, started right up with no problem. After about a week or so i pulled it ino the driveway to put some liquid steel on the exhaust because there was a little hole causing a bit of noise. Once i pulled it in, and fixed the whole, i tried to leave and the car wouldnt start. Same thing will turn over and everything, gets gas but no spark again. The ignition coil that I bought was an aftermarket one, not one from the toyota dealership. Also today i went to the junkyard and grabbed 2 distributers to try and both had no affect, car still wont start, no spark.

Any Ideas for me?

Ide check to make sure the igniter is still working properly. most of the time the no spark is from the coil cracking inside the dist. but its also possible that the igniter took a poop.

You can also check the resistance of each spark plug wire. End to end. Each wire should have no more than 25kOhm.

Is there an easy way to check if the ignighter is working properly? and also the coil was brand new as i stated before, is there a good chance that it is messed up, again?

As stated previously, the igniter could be bad. I'd try a known good igniter.
Do you have any friends or family that have the same camry ? If not check with the junkyard and see how much one is. They are VERY EXPENSIVE from the dealer. Like 500 bucks.

You can check the resistances on it, but I don't think there are specs anywhere in the fsm.

Aftermarket stuff can go bad quickly. I would pull the cap off and check the coil. Just to make 100% sure that's what the problem isn't

The igniter ground is switched on/off by the ECU which turns the 12v primary on/off and energizes the secondary. The ground for the igniter is done through its body mounting. At this stage I'd clean ground connection of the igniter (body mounting bolts). You should also be able to check the primary switching by connecting a 12v test light across the + & - of the coil then turn the engine over and look for the test light to turn on/off. This would confirm igniter switching. At least that's the theory as I've never actually done it. I've not read about many igniters going bad, but coils tend to be notorious for failure. You could also check EFI fuse to make sure you have power to the ECU.
