Compressor Jammed, Need Cheap Fix

I have a 1993 Camry and the compressor has seized up.

I don't need the A/C and it didn't work anyway but I need the cheapest
and easiest way of returning to driving.

I've seen bypass pulleys on other vehicles to replace a not needed compressor.

Or can I just remove the compressor and use a shorter belt?

Money is a MAJOR factor.

(also, my first post here... HELLO!!!!)

You can remove the compressor and use a shorter belt. Or leave the compressor on and use a shorter belt, it shouldn't get in the way anyway. Just take a piece of string, start at the alternator and go around all the pulleys like normal, but skip the compressor. Then measure how long that is, go to a parts store and say "I need a XX ribbed belt that is YY inches long". In the part numbers of belts, the last 2 or 3 numbers in length in inches, and the first is the number of ribs. Then some letter are added in for different brands and varieties.

For instance, a belt that is K060445 would be 44.5 inches and 6 ribs, whereas K04022 is a 22 inch belt with 4 ribs.

Shorter belt, WONDERFULL!

I'll likely remove the compressor. Many thanks.
