96 Camry automatic not shifting after 2 gear. Cps ?

Was wondering if anyone could help trying to locate the Cam Position Sensor with some visual aids? So much confusion on line about early and late models. It'd be great if someone could help. Thanks.

On the 98 5s-fe, the cam position sensor is bolted by one bolt to the upper timing chain cover. You can't see it from the top of the engine. You have to put your hand on the lower side of the upper timing chain cover to access it.
The cam position sensor generates a specific problem code ... Maybe go to a local auto parts store and have them check the diagnostic codes for you.

... The problem could be that the bolt holding the CPS has come loose, and the CPS is not in its correct position. One time I left the CPS off .... a long story ... you can't see that it is not there .... Same symptoms as you describe when driving.
