3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Whatever I'm reposting this. Just seems like every night since Wednesday I've been crying myself before bed.
Just hard to adjust after 4 years, the 1st car that I bought on my own during my 1st year of college is gone. And all the DIY work, and the friends I've made on the board just seems to be all gone now

Things happen. It's been two years and I still miss my old Camry, and I'm driving a BMW.
Just buy yourself another one. You'll come to cherish it as much, if not more than the last. Give her a name, and treat her like your baby. Things will come to be alright.
thanks guys, sorry I deleted the post. I just felt silly writing it. I know...I just need to find another 'soul' to replace it.
I'm just trying to think positive at the unfortunate fact that I knew I wouldn't be able to keep driving cross country the way I've been doing. I knew eventually I'd have to get a new one at some point.
Same thing happened to my mom couple years ago...car kept having problems, got rear ended and bought a new one. It's just sad cars have to get wrecked out of inconvenience instead of the right time. Wish I was atleast home Part of me keeps crying because I'm stuck in Washington, but it could be worse.

Your friends are all still here, and it's alright to vent. I do it, as does everyone else.
You can always buy another Camry. This time around you'll be more knowledgeable concerning these cars, and maybe you can purchase a better one, like a standard SE or LE.
Just keep your chin high and your eyes and ears open for a great deal. Things have a way of working out when you least expect them to.
Yeah in the back of mind I'm just like I wish I was seriously injured so I could get millions of dollars...but the REAL me is like, I'd rather be able to walk than to have all that money.
Not to say I won't try and get as much as possible. I can't even move my neck normal right now.
hey, don't worry bro! things are gonna be all right
first make sure your health is OK, so get checked up everything you feel is wrong with you. neck injury could be dangerous, make sure it's OK.
Your insurance should cover getting a rental car, no? or they do not do that if car was totalled already? not sure how that works this way, might wanna call them up and see. it would give you some 4 wheels for moving around for now and you can return rental car in a different city too if they have a branch over there.
Get the police report from accident and work with insurance agent until all is done here, then go home and relax man... in free time just look for new car on ebay, edmunds, craigslist, etc and see what you can get with the money from insurance company plus some savings
cheer up! it will be OK soon, I promise

The party at fault should pay for rental if your insurance doesn't. But that does mean money out of the pocket first and court proceedings. If the truck driver works for a company then I'd think that company is liable too.
Besides getting the proper medical attention first, so is finding legal representation. Being out of the state does make it difficult however. As mentioned, get the necessary police report. There's always free initial consultation with many trades. Just don't know how good some of those are. But we are here, and doing the best we can with the mechanicals.
well as far as the insurance goes, her company is going to have to pick up the slack. Insurance companies are real bad when one of their customers messes up, they expect the person who wasn't at fault to go thru their insurance company as to leave as little liability for themselves as possible.
They will be getting a rental ASAP because I'm so far from home and also working at the same time.
The crazy thing is we are BOTH from out of state. But the way it works is everything has to be considered in Washington (the state where the accident happened) but I'm going to have that sorted out before I leave here so that when I return home I'll have someone taking care of all of it.
I have looked at craigslist just for fun though. Kinda makes me feel a bit better LOL. I did write in my blog couple months ago before this happened that I was considering a 4runner

And you think you have it bad?
The amount that I've lost from people taking advantage of me and ripping me off exceeds the value of any "Excellent" condition 3rd Gen Camry on the market today.
At least you can recoup your losses. Be happy you're alive and just get another car.
I hope you learned not to invest so much time and money into your Camry. I did.... but I have an Mr2 also lol
if it helps too, I'm driving around with a smashed front bumper from an accident.
I'm waiting to get the MR2 out of the shop (hopefully next week) before I start taking off the body kit pieces. I'm probably going to end up selling them but I really don't want to.
Shitty things like this happens but you just have to learn to shrug your shoulders and move on.

Well, I thought I was doing the right thing. I had the knowledge to fix my car, I enjoyed doing it and the control I had knowing I could fix it. I wasn't trying to make it the best thing ever but to make it comfortable.
This year alone I paid over $700 to fix my door, put 2 new power window motors in, new compressor/dryer and A/C was working WONDERFUL. I'd just done tranny flush, coolant flush, etc.
I'm almost wondering...did getting a bunch of parts from the junkyard put some weird 'jinx' on my car? Before I felt comfortable with junkyards, I always felt kind of bad for taking parts from there as it'd seem to make my car prone to going to one. You never know if someone died in those cars and left their souls or something I mean, deep down inside I don't want anyone taking parts from my car. I want to bury it and let it rest in peace LOL. Or park it in my driveway and throw a tarp over it and re-build it again. But maybe I'm just being too superstitious
I'm not going to shrug my shoulders on this one though. Commercial truck driver nearly killed me...I'm going after this as if I was dead. I'm dead and I was given a 2nd chance so I'm going to collect every dime they owe me. This period is pain and suffering and emotional distress I'm experiencing for come close to an early death....
