steering locks up

Hey guys i'm wondering how come my steering wheel is locked up. The car is on jacks and i don't have battery in it or anything. It was moving freely the other day but today it locked up in a turned position. When i try turning it to make it straight it makes a clicking noise

is your key in the ignition? camrys are equipped with steering locks to lock the steering wheel in place after the key is removed.

It will lock up without the key even if you don't have a battery in it. Try pushing the shifter release button at the top left corner of the shifter panel. I'm not sure what it's actually called, but others will know what I'm talking about. Same thing happened to me a year ago and I think that's what I did.

try shifting the gear selector to Neutral after pressing the button at it (it's under a plastic "door", pry it out with a flat screw driver).
