4th Generation Stock 2001 Headunit

Before i go and pull the radio and possibly sigh not finding what im looking for I'd rather just ask now.

I have this Headunit in my 2001, i believe its a JBL although on mine it doesnt say it like the picture.

my questions are, can i run a subwoofer with this unit and does it have an auxiliary port in the rear? I've got a subwoofer I took out of my previous vehicle and im also tired of using the tape deck to play my iPod

Thanks.

No and No i believe.

There are ways to patch in the sub but it wont sound good. In order to put in a aftermarket head unit you will need a special adapter like a Peripheral. JBL system has external amp for speakers. Just order off Crutchfield since they have stuff like this worked perfectly. The adapter is 25-30$.

You can rig something off but you can drop in a nice head unit for well under 150$ and not have to deal with anything.

Does your car have the JBL Amp? (if it has the tweeters in the doors behind mirrors, then you have the amp). There are two different wire adapters depending if your car has the amp or not. Either way, that adapter is well worth the money.

I put in a Pioneed HU (DEH-5200HD, iirc) that I got for a hair under $100 shipped, and never looked back. I would recommend doing the same - I now have HD radio, AUX, and USB plug, as well as far better sound control. There's also a sub-out.
