hey guys my 1999 4cyl AT camry wont start it all stock with 186k
i have replaced the fuel filter plugs wires and it wont start, it will turn over but i cant get it to run. it seems to be a spark issue but i cant figure out why it wont create spark because all the fuses seem to be good and the wires and plugs are brand new. im thinking the ignition coil packs so i ordered some but i wanted to get a second opinion because this car is fairly new to us and it ran like a top prior to be changing the fluid in the diff and tranny so i dont know if i bumped something or what. i did change the fuel filter did not bend the fuel lines, thank goodness. the fuel pump is working as well
is there any "control" box or something i can check or fuse box that seperate of the ones in the engine bay or driver side dash?
Did you test all yer fuses? When you say they "seem" good...are you just giving them a cursory look and that's it? Are you actually pulling them and testing them with a fuse tester or a multimeter?
How did the 5A IGN fuse test out? How about the 15A EFI fuse? How did you confirm that the fuel pump is working?
Did you check to make sure everything is plugged back where it was supposed to be? Snap a few piccies of the engine bay and post them up.
Do you have the factory alarm setup? Did you disconnect the battery at some point?

i checked all the fuses slots with a multimeter and couldnt find anything, and the fuses are in working order.
i kinda did the redneck test by cracking the banjo bolt from the top of the filter and turning the key and saw fuel pump out, i realize i didnt get a pressure but from what i saw it seems to be plenty of pressure.
luckily there wasnt too much to plug back in so im sure i did it correctly but ill post up some pics tomorrow. and i just so happend to check the throttle body and position sensor and sensor was clean but the tb was filthy so i cleaned it out with tb cleaner.
i guess ill just wait for coil packs to show up tomorrow and find out if it was the coil packs.so ill post some pics tomorrow as well so i get a second opinion

I am new to the camry but I belive the l4 has 2 coilpacks, chances of both go bad at the same time is very slim.

so i finally found the problem... it was a odd wire that had no sheathing and no reason to be on the car what so ever, it was wrapped in the wiring of the crankshaft sensor and had rubbed its way through one of the wires and occasionally grounded it but when i took the altenator off it moved it directly into the hole. so i cut it taped it off and taped the wire back up. thanks for all the help you guys
