Alarm problem

This is not my Camry, but my father in law's.

97 Camry LE 3.0 V6.

His alarm just went off, on it own, and now even with taking the battery of, and then on it will not start. And alarm goes on, off after a while, when the power is on (he took battery cable off)

He looked for the valet button but could not find it.

Any other way to turn off the alarm, so he can start the car?

Also he also said his remote control stopped working a while back, and he bought a battery but still , it did not work.

So first question how do you stop the alarm, ? where is that button? and Do the alarm must be reprogrammed after a new battery in it, or it might just be bad, anyway to check ?

Do you have the SecuriKey alarm?

If you want a copy of the alarm manual, send me a Private Message [PM], and I will email a PDF file. Actually, it's the '98 version.

I think you might have to have a working remote key to take advantage of this alarm system. At one point, I inquired at the local dealer, and they said that they could probably make a remote key .... maybe some sort of key number is required ... don't know all the details.

I had a sensitivity issue with my alarm system ... it required a trip to the dealer.

I don't completely understand your problem definition/explanation.
... Maybe the SecuriKey manual will assist you.

it's actually not my Camry, it's my father in law.

Yes he has a key but it has not worked for a while.

The problem is alarm just started to go into panic, and he has not been able to even start the car. Taking the battery cable of no solution.

I read online, and dealer told him, to look for the valet button (By the steering column) to turn alarm off.....but he could not find it?

I will go Friday to help him, if he won't tow it to the dealer,....even though to me it seems excessive. There must be a way to turn it off, and be able to start the car ?

Sounds like it is SecuriKey .... little button on dash directly to the left of steering column.
I think you need to look at the manual ... no problem if you send me a PM and include your email address.
