Help Head Gasket looks wrong

Hi All,

I'm changing my head gasket on my 95 Camry 5SFE. The gasket I bought looks wrong but so did the old one. On the water jackets it looks like they are blocked is that the way it is? I would like to know before I put it back together.

Thanks for all who help,

Tom

post a pic of the old one next to the new one. are you able to flip the gasket over and get it to line up properly?

I'm at work right now so I will when I get home. Not sure if I still have the old one. I started over a month age. But why would they cover up the water jackets?

Thanks, Tom

I did my 4 cylinder gasket last winter. I used a Felpro head gasket. IIRC, the gasket looked weird as well, like there were holes that had punch out style tabs on them. But it looked ok when I lined up holes with the OEM gasket I removed.

Thanks 87path,

That is the same one I bought.

Have you had any issue with the new gasket?

I know that the holes are offset on these gaskets, so they only go on one way. I did a engine swap a few years ago, and I remember that the gasket was a little strange. Let me see if I have any pics.

I only have pics of the block deck, not of the headgasket.

Here is a pic of the block deck from the driver's side fender
