'98, barely starts sometimes, now worse
1998 Camry LE, 132K miles. About 5K miles now on it's second timing belt kit and water pump. I also replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs again at this time.
Since even before the doing the timing belt kit, and probably since about 115K miles, 1 out of say every 8 warm/hot starts it would barely start and idle around 400RPM and vibrate. A quick flick of the throttle over 1,200RPM would do the trick so I never paid much attention. Lately it has been happening more often. Today, after being parked for about 5hrs, it barely started then died right away. It did this 3 times, on the 4th time I gave it some throttle the moment it fired up and gave it a quick rev up to 1,500RPM for a couple seconds then it was fine. Never an engine light btw. It also seems to me the mileage has gotten worse over the last 20K or so miles too.
Any idea what is going on? The car runs flawlessly all the time in every way aside from this. I'm hoping this is something common with these cars like maybe the IAC or the TPS.
Thanks!
Alex
