Trans Swap

i have a 1997 camry i need to no if a a140e trans from a 1996 will work or what i can do to make it work. ts the same bolt pattern same valve body same guts. but i have read every were only a 1997-2001 will work there was a thread a few months ago some guy put a 1994 in a 1998 but he never said if he had to do anything to it to make it work. please help because i can get a jasper remand form a 96 for $75 still has a 10month warranty.

I am pretty sure it might work because the 96 is obd2.. Check the NSs plug and the speed sensor plugs. If all plugs are there it will probably work.

See, with the early 93-93 camry the plugs are different from the 93-94

ya have checked all the plugs there all the same and i have checked the mounts they are the same as well. the only other thing is the axle spline is it the same. well i did buy it. i guess ill start by removing a cv shaft first and see if it lines up thanks

just wanted to let you all no that a 1996 trans worked just fine. every thing is the same all the plugs cv shaft spine, trans mount. trans works grate. passed emissions test... thanks all
