96 Camry 2.2 swap

What is the biggest engine i can drop in my 2.2 body without any kind of fabrication? I was thinking about a 3S-GTE from a 4th gen Celica but then i realized i dont especially wanna use the drivetrain from it because it is Front Wheel drive.

And your Camry isn't? Or are you considering a RWD conversion?

A RWD Camry would be sweet, but lots of money involved. You could move the exhaust and make them into side pipes, and put the drive shaft were the exhaust is. This all theory and "I think that would work...." Why swap a 4 banger in when you could the the V6?

Whatever you want to swap in there is going to cost you a lot to change over.

Ideally im thinking about a RWD Camry with the biggest engine possible.
The problem with the Celica engine is that the Celica drivetrain is fwd. Im not entirely sure if there is a RWD setup that will work with that engine

Answer is simple. 1MZ-FE 3.0L V6. Everything bolts on, because it was meant to be there. No OBD-II issues, nothing....but there's not much of a point to do a swap like this when you can just buy a 3.0L V6 Camry and sell your 4 cyl. The V6 comes with bigger wheels, tires, rear disc brakes, springs, etc....

Unless you're Tony the Tiger, your car is never going to be fast. Just enjoy your gas sipping four cylinder.
