3rd Generation removing muffler waste more gas.?

i removed my muffler not that long ago, i notices i kinda burn thru gas a lil bit faster...

is it me, or will my car burn more gas cause i removed it.?

its not the 1st time i do this, also i dont run any harder to hear the "cool noise" it actually sounds nice on a V6 nd i still drive the same,

I do believe that.... Removing mufflers and expanding car exhaust systems is/was a way to increase HP by reducing some of the post ignition pressure required by the engine. In effect depending on the car there is some engine power going to the exhaust... Now though you might think this will increase fuel burn... Actually some of the back pressure in the engine and the potential other design criteria mean that the engine may not be properly calibrated anymore and you will burn more gas.

well one it had a hole in it and i got pulled over for it one time cause it was "load", so i took it off lol and they havnt told me anything lately,

mufflers are not that expensive ... just get a new one from autozone or napa and put it on ... running without a muffler is just ridiculous ... and very annoying to all neighborhoods you pass through ...

problem solved, just went by this morning to a U-pull it yourself junkyard and got one from a 94 camry for $15 in good shape
